Cosmic Exclamation Point

Cosmic Exclamation Point

What appears to be a cosmic exclamation point are actually two galaxies colliding in the early stages of their interaction. Millions of years in the future these two spirals will merge. This is a composite image created with data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory (purple) shown here along with optical data from the Hubble Space Telescope (red, green, blue). This collision is about 450 million light years away from Earth.
